July 6 - Wednesday
BUNRATTY & BLARNEY
Arrival in the Emerald Isle at Shannon Airport. After you clear Customs you will be met by your experienced driver-guide and board your luxury Mercedes 13 Seat Motorcoach. Tour from
Shannon Airport via Bunratty where you’ll view 15th century Bunratty Castle. Depending on arrival time you may wish to visit the Bunratty Folk Park, a 19th century recreated Irish Village.
Across the road from Bunratty Castle is one of the oldest pubs in Ireland - Durty Nellys Pub established in 1620. Continue towards towards Kinsale in County Cork. You may wish to make a stop at Blarney and view Blarney castle. You can climb to the battlements and kiss the Blarney Stone and obtain the gift of eloquent speech. On to Kinsale, a picturesque harbor town It is known as the Gourmet Capital of Ireland. Time permitting: you may wish to visit Charles Fort, a 17th century star-shaped fort overlooking the harbor channel. It has a resident ghost! - The White Lady.

BANTRY, GOUGANE BARRA & BEAL NA BLAGH
Irish breakfast this morning. Tour to Bantry, on beautiful Bantry Bay. Bantry claims an ancient connection to the sixth century saint, Breandán the Navigator. In Irish lore Saint Breandán was the first person to discover America. On to Glengariff, and you can take a boat ride over to Garinish Island by boat (extra cost) and walk around. You’ll explore the Italianate Gardens, see the Martello Tower, built by the British during the Napoleonic Wars to deter the French from invading. Tour through the Gaeltacht (Irish Speaking area) across the Shehy Mountains and through Gougane Barra National Park to the town of Macroom, the birthplace of William Penn, the founder of the State of Pennsylvania. Return to Kinsale via Beal na Blath the place where Michael Collins was killed in an ambush on August 22, 1922. You’ll want to experience one of the gourmet restaurants this evening. Dinner on your own tonight. Stay in Kinsale at Actons Hotel.

COBH, MIDLETON & CORK
Irish breakfast this morning. Tour to Cobh. This harbor town houses the Queenstown Story which illustrates the history of Cobh as the main departure point for the estimated 2.5 million Irish men and women who left from here during the 19th Century. It was also a major shipping port which welcomed many famous Ocean Liners and Navy ships, including the Titanic on its ill-fated journey. You can visit the Emigration Museum. Continue on to Midleton in County Cork. Midleton has its origins dating back to the 12th century. The Midleton Irish Whiskey distillery is located here. You can tour the facility. On to Cork City; the second largest city of the Irish Republic situated on the banks of the River Lee. Stop and visit the English Market. Queen Elizabeth II visited Cork in 2014. Return to Kinsale. Dinner on your own tonight. Stay in Kinsale at Actons Hotel.

CAHIR, & CASHEL
Irish breakfast this morning. Continue to Cahir. You may wish to visit 12th century Cahir Castle - fully restored! It is a Butler Castle with associations with Kilkenny Castle. On to Cashel where you may wish to visit the Rock of Cashel, a cathedral fortress dating to the time of St. Patrick. St. Patrick first used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity when he converted the King of Munster to Christianity. Continue to the medieval town of Kilkenny, once the capital of Ireland. Dinner in the hotel restaurant this evening. Stay in Kilkenny at the Pembroke Hotel.

KILKENNY & ENVIRONS
Irish breakfast this morning. You can visit and tour Kilkenny Castle, a 12th century castle that has had its State Apartments restored. While in Kilkenny you may wish to visit Kilkenny Design Center for crafts and St. Canice’s Cathedral. Nearby to Killkenny Town is Jerpoint Abbey at Thomastown, a 13th century Cistercian Abbey. You may also wish to visit Jerpoint Glass Studio established in 1979 by Keith & Kathleen Leadbetter where they hand craft unique glass pieces. Dinner on your own tonight. Stay in Kilkenny at the Pembroke Hotel.

WATERFORD & WEXFORD
Irish breakfast this morning. Tour south to Waterford founded by the Vikings. View Reginald’s Tower. It is a circular tower originally of wood built in 1003 and rebuilt out of stone in the 13th century. Waterford was also the birthplace of Francis Thomas Meagher who was a general in the Union Army and later the first governor of the State of Montana. His home is now the Granville Hotel. Along the quayside there is a thriving craft glass community where you will find the House of Waterford Crystal. Continue via New Ross where you can view the Dunbrody a replica of an Irish emigrant ship. Wexford featured prominently in the 1798 Rebellion. Stay in Wexford Town. Dinner in the hotel restaurant this evening. Stay in Wexford at the Talbot Hotel.

TINTERN ABBEY & HOOK HEAD
Irish breakfast this morning. Tour to Tintern Abbey where you can visit this 13th century Cistercian settlement. It was built by the same founder of Tintern Abbey in Wales. Tour on to Hook Head where you can visit the lighthouse. There has been a light on this point since the 5th century when the monks used to build fires to warn the ships of the rocks. Drive through the scenic seaside village of Arthurstown and on to Ballyhack where you can view Ballyhack castle built by the Knights Hospitallers of St. John, a military order founded in the 12th century at the the time of the Crusades. A recommendation for a lunch stop today would be the Silver Fox restaurant at Kilmore Quay. Return to Wexford Town for a leisure evening. Dinner on your own tonight. Stay in Wexford at the Talbot Hotel.

ENNISCORTHY, AVOCA & GLENDALOUGH
Irish breakfast this morning. Tour north via Enniscorthy where you can view the Kavanaugh castle which dates from the early 13th century. On to County Wicklow known as the Garden of Ireland and a visit to Avoca where you can see how the fine Irish wool is weaved. On to Glendalough and a chance to visit this 6th century monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin. A little farther north is Powerscourt Gardens, one of Ireland’s finest formal gardens. Continue into Dublin, the capital of the Irish Republic. You’ll stay near Merrion Square, Fitzwilliam Square and St. Stephen’s Green. You may wish to enjoy one of the more famous restaurants that Dublin has to offer. Evening at leisure. Dinner on your own this evening. Dinner on your own tonight.
